It’s been awhile since our last report, fortunately due in part to long days of great fishing. The fishing has been great and as we transition from spring to summer patterns, you never know what kind of action you’ll encounter. Tarpon are still roaming the Bay, Snook are really active along the beaches and passes, the Redfish bite has been great, and the offshore fishing has been on fire!
June was a great month for Tarpon fishing with many of our clients getting their first or biggest Tarpon ever. There will still be plenty of Tarpon fishing in the Bay for the next few months. Summer is also the best time of year for Shark fishing and one of my favorite techniques is to get out of the heat and target these awesome creatures at night on a strong tide. Our last two Shark trips have produced some great action with Black Tip and Bull Sharks screaming drag as well as some monster Goliath Grouper over 300 pounds!
Offshore the action has been non-stop with all the Red Snapper you can handle as well as some giant Scamp and Red Grouper coming aboard. Chumming has been key to bringing in the Dolphin(Mahi Mahi) and Tuna. There are few things as exciting as fighting 25lb. Tuna on light tackle.
July and August are great months to get out on the water. Calm weather makes deep offshore trips a breeze and the Redfish, Snook and Trout are roaming the flats in big numbers.
