Well, it’s that time of year again, the black drum are moving in to Tampa bay to spawn. I don’t know if it’s just been a while since I’ve seen these fish, but they look bigger than ever this year. We have been getting these monsters to eat on every trip, and we’re getting them to the boat on trout tackle which is a real thrill if you’ve never tried it. We have spent a good part of our fishing time over the past few weeks fishing for these bruisers, and are looking forward to them hanging around for us to enjoy for another month or so.
Yesterday, Capt. Jeff and I went out there for a little Man vs. Drum combat and went a perfect 5 for 5 with the biggest one tipping the scales at 56 lbs. It is really an awesome site to see a school of 100+ fish ranging in size from 30 to 60 lbs. cruising in 4 ft. of water and watch one inhale your artificial lure. I wish everyone could get out here and experience these awesome creatures fist hand. Well, that’s it for now, and remember, you can’t win if you don’t play.
Let’s Go Fishing!
