My clients had 2 goals today. Goal number 1 was to catch their first slot size Redfish, goal number 2 was to catch their first Snook. I picked them up just after sunrise to catch the remainder of the tide and made the run to our first spot. At first I was getting worried the fish weren’t going to show due to lack of moving water but after a little chum it was like clockwork.
They came out of their hideouts ready to ambush our baits. Within the first 30 minutes all 3 guys had the slot Redfish goal checked off their list a few times over, and I could tell it was going to be a good day. We stayed here for about 2 more hours pulling in quality Redfish. A 27″ Snook even decided to join in on the fun! We boated numerous fish and lost quite a few BIG ones that they just couldn’t stop.
Once that tide stopped so did the bite. We moved on to fish residential canals where we found lots of Sheepshead, Mangrove Snapper, and Black Drum. We called it a day around 11:30 to beat the heat. All the fish we caught today were released to fight another day.
