We’ve had a great summer of fishing here in Tampa Bay, with plenty of action and a wide variety of species keeping our anglers busy. From battling big tarpon and Goliath grouper to catching gag grouper, snook, redfish, and more, it’s been another exciting summer on the water.

Now we’re looking forward to one of our favorite times of the year—fall fishing in Tampa Bay. As the days begin to get shorter and cooler temperatures start moving into the area, the fishing should only continue to improve.

The fall months typically bring some excellent inshore fishing. Snook, redfish, and spotted seatrout become increasingly active as water temperatures begin to cool. We’ve already had some great redfish action, and we expect that bite to remain strong throughout the fall. Snook will also begin settling into their fall patterns around mangrove shorelines, flats, creek mouths, and other areas where baitfish are concentrated.

There are still some tarpon hanging around Tampa Bay as well. While the huge summer migration may be winding down, resident fish can continue to provide some exciting opportunities throughout the fall.

As we move farther into the season, cooling water temperatures and migrating baitfish will bring even more opportunities. Kingfish will begin showing up along the beaches and nearshore waters, while cobia, Spanish mackerel, tripletail, sharks, and other species can add even more variety to a day on the water.

One of the things we love most about fall fishing in Tampa Bay is the number of options available. Whether you want to spend the day working the flats for snook and redfish, chase tarpon, target grouper, or head toward the beaches and nearshore waters for migrating fish, there is usually something biting.

If you haven’t been fishing with us in a while, fall is a great time to get back on the water. Cooler weather, active fish, and some of the best variety of the year make the next several months an excellent time to experience Tampa Bay.
